Superintendent, Construction Operations
With six years of on-the-job experience, Michael “Mickey” Ottman was promoted to Superintendent, Construction Operations, at FM Construction Company in May 2017. Michael had joined the FM Construction team in 2011 and quickly rose to the role of foreman after proving his knowledge of the trade and demonstrating his dedication as an asset to the company.
Michael has been involved in many different projects in Indiana while working for FM Construction including: Hobby Lobby in Angola, Ross Dress for Less in South Bend, Mishawaka and Elkhart, PetSmart in Warsaw and Elkhart, and Fresh Thyme Market in Mishawaka.
A graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend (1995), Michael got his start in the construction trades in 1996 working for Portage Construction as a laborer/carpenter. Within five years he had worked his way up to the position of foreman. In 2005 he joined J.A. Wagner Construction in Elkhart where he almost immediately began supervising jobs. While there he was able to teach himself, and learn from others, the many facets of commercial construction. Projects he was involved with while working at J.A. Wagner include: ADEC in Bristol, LaVanture Products in Elkhart, Yellow Dog Excursion in Elkhart and Renegade in Bristol.
Michael lives in South Bend with his wife Jennifer and their two children. Michael and Jennifer are the proud parents of a son, Austin, and a daughter, Elizabeth. In his free time Michael enjoys karaoke (his parents own their own DJ service) and he is a die-hard Notre Dame fan.
